What’s inside a full resume
The same six things you’d look for in any resume, with what they mean for a remote hire in Asia.
- Work history
- Employers, job titles, dates and what the worker was responsible for at each one — the part a profile summary compresses into a headline. Look for tenure and for the tools named in each role.
- Tools and systems
- The software they’ve actually used day to day: Xero or QuickBooks, Zendesk or HubSpot, WordPress, Canva, Google Workspace. Match these against the tools in your job post before the interview.
- Education and training
- Degrees, diplomas and short courses. In the Philippines many customer-support and admin candidates hold a bachelor’s degree; a relevant certificate often matters more for technical roles.
- Languages
- Languages spoken and the worker’s own rating. Pair this with the EF SET English level shown on the profile, which is an independent test rather than a self-assessment.
- Contact details
- Email and phone, and usually a LinkedIn, portfolio or website link. These unlock on the profile alongside the download on Optimised and Elite plans.
- The document itself
- The file the worker uploaded, unedited by us. How it’s written — clear, dated, specific — is itself a signal for any role that involves writing to your customers.
How to read a remote worker’s resume
Five things to look for, five things to ask about — before you spend an hour on a call.
Good signs
- Tenure. Two or more years in a role, especially a remote one for an overseas client.
- Named tools that match your stack, with the years they used them.
- Specific outcomes — “handled 60 tickets a day”, “kept the books for 40 clients”.
- A time-zone track record. Previous Australian, NZ, US or UK clients means the hours are familiar.
- Consistency between the resume, the profile and the salary ask.
Worth a question
- Gaps with no explanation — often fine, but ask.
- Many short stints in a row, particularly with agencies or BPOs.
- Tools listed with no role that used them.
- A resume written in a very different voice from the profile.
- Salary ask far below the market for the experience claimed.
Every resume belongs to one real person — no agencies, no outsourcing firms, no teams posing as a solo worker. You hire the person on the page, agree pay with them directly, and they keep all of it.
Full resume questions
Do I need a paid plan to read worker profiles?
No. Every profile on VirtualWorkers.Asia is open to read — name, headline, skills, experience, salary ask, English level, education, computer specs and when they were last active. The Free plan also gives you the full set of search filters and bookmarks.
What do I get on a paid plan that I don’t get free?
Three things: the worker’s complete resume as a downloadable file, their contact details, and the ability to message any worker first. On Free you can reply to anyone who applies to your job, but you can’t make the first move.
Is the resume the worker’s own document?
Yes. It is the resume file the worker uploaded to their profile, exactly as they wrote it. Many workers have also run their profile through our free AI Resume Review, so the profile summary you read first is structured and consistent from one worker to the next.
What format is the download?
Whatever the worker uploaded — most are PDF, some are Word documents. You can save it, print it and share it with whoever else is in on the hiring decision.
Can I download resumes in bulk?
You download them one profile at a time, from the profile page, as part of your plan — there is no per-download charge.
Do you take a commission when I hire?
Never. You pay a flat monthly plan, hire the worker directly and pay them directly. No placement fees, no markups, no percentage of salary — the worker keeps 100% of what you agree.
Can I cancel after I’ve hired?
Yes. Subscribe, hire, cancel — that is fine by us. There is no lock-in and no penalty for hiring fast; your access simply runs to the end of the period you paid for.
Read everything free. Download when you’re ready.
Post a job, shortlist from the open profiles, and upgrade only when you want the full resume and a direct line to the worker.
